The Future 500 group has previously included top business people from around the country such as Richard Reed (founder if Innocent Smoothies), Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones (‘The Black Farmer’), Tamara Hill-Knowlton (founder of Sweaty Betty).
Guy says, “It is a real honour to be included in this group of entrepreneurs. It is a real testament to how successful the Pooch & Mutt dog supplements have been. Hopefully this will provide a good opportunity to network and grow the brand further.”
Guy is also signed up as a speaker at PATS, both in Sandown and Harrogate. The title of his talk is “Marketing for Survival: How shops and brands have succeeded against the superstores”.
With 200 independent stores threatened with closure and 100 mini Pets at Homes set to open this year the topic could not be more timely.
“This talk is not anti the pet superstores. In many industries superstores offer a fantastic service and are the way that the market is heading. Our own products are stocked in pet superstores. What I want to point out is that the growth of the superstores does not have to mean the decline of the independents.” Explains Guy.
“There are plenty of amazing examples of stores and brands in many sectors that have used the threat of superstore expansion to develop, focus and grow their businesses. I want to show a few examples of these and explain how they have succeeded. As someone who has a good knowledge of marketing (having worked on brands including MTV, Coca-Cola, MINI and Glade) and someone who has a good knowledge of the pet market, through Pooch & Mutt, I hope to give some ideas and inspiration to independent pet stores on how they can thrive for years to come..”
As well as speaking at the PATS shows Pooch & Mutt will be exhibiting at PATS Sandown on stand K4.
