Something For The Weekend...

Courtesy of Waggy Walks

The wonderful hot weather looks set to stay for the weekend (see map below), so why not venture out with your dog and make the most of the sunshine.

Waggy Walks, is an annual fundraiser created by Dogs Trust. The sponsored dog walk brings dog lovers from all around the UK to raise money to help give abandoned dogs a happier, safer life.

This years event will be taking place in 12 beautiful parks around the UK on Sunday 2nd October at 11am.

If you don't live near one of the 12 planned walks don't fret! This year you can organise your very own walk and get everyone in your area involved.

It's a great way to exercise the dogs, meet like-minded people and raise money for our furry friends in need.

Despite the wet weather, last years event raised almost £80,000 and saw thousands take part. This year should be even better with hot weather predicted for a large part of the UK.

So get involved & get Waggy Walking! Don't forget to post pictures & videos of your day to our Facebook page, we'd love to see them.

To find out more about Waggy Walks and your nearest planned walk visit www.waggywalks.org.uk/

Mobile Bones Helps August's POTM Winner Heal Shattered Ankle

Woodstock shattered his ankle and tibia whilst chasing rabbits. The surgeon did a superb job and managed to save the leg but a lot of the cartilage in the joint was lost and there was a large chance that the bones wouldn't take.

The pins which go right through Woodstock's leg were left open, making the risk of infection high. If the leg didn't heal then fusing the leg was also an option and to an extent still is. Thankfully the bones have knitted back together and things are looking reasonably good, but even if he makes a full recovery the chances of him having arthritis problems are very high.
